Autonomy you set

Decide how much each workflow does on its own

Symphony runs every workflow at one of three autonomy levels — Assist, Approve or Execute — so a person stays in charge of the decisions that need judgement.

Overview

Human-in-the-loop autonomy

Handing work to AI should not mean all or nothing. In Symphony each workflow has its own autonomy level. At Assist, agents retrieve information and prepare recommendations. At Approve, agents prepare actions that a person reviews before they run. At Execute, agents complete authorised tasks within defined limits and send exceptions to a person.

What it does

Why levels beat a single switch

✓

Assist: agents retrieve information and prepare recommendations.

✓

Approve: agents prepare actions a person reviews before they run.

✓

Execute: agents complete authorised tasks within defined limits and escalate exceptions.

✓

Approval requirements can be set for sensitive actions.

✓

Start supervised, and widen autonomy as performance is demonstrated.

How it works

Raising autonomy safely

1Start a new workflow at Assist or Approve
2Test it on real scenarios
3Review completion, accuracy and how often people stepped in
4Move it to Execute once results are proven
FAQ

Common questions

Can people approve actions before they happen?

Yes. At the Approve level, agents prepare actions and a person reviews them before they run, and approval can be required for sensitive actions.

What happens to exceptions at Execute?

Agents work within the limits you define and escalate exceptions to a person.

Where should we start?

With one recurring workflow with a clear owner and a measurable result, run under supervision before autonomy is widened.
